To escape Level 0, collect the wooden ladder pieces, repair the ladder to obtain the key, and use that key on the locked wooden door. Cross the pit room beyond it to reach the upper exit. If you fall, follow the spray-painted arrows on the lower floor to the alternate exit, or accept a rope rescue from a teammate who stayed above.
Your spawn is not a dependable route marker. Begin by finding the ladder alcove or the locked door, then work between those two landmarks.
Find the ladder objective

The starting yellow maze contains notes that explain the ladder and the crossing. Inspect a note if you cannot read it at normal viewing distance. Search the corridors for the broken ladder beneath an elevated recess; nearby wooden pieces provide the materials to repair it.
A consistent wall-following search is more useful than memorizing turns from somebody else's spawn. Once you recognize the ladder, search its nearby corridors and return to the same alcove after collecting the pieces. Check around corners as you move rather than sprinting blindly through intersections.
In multiplayer, players can begin in different positions. The team does not need to bring every player to the ladder. Key items are shared, so one player can complete the collection while others find the wooden door. Tell the team when the key has been obtained so they stop searching for duplicate pieces.
Repair the ladder and collect the key
Interact with the broken ladder once the required pieces have been collected. The repair and climbing sequence obtains the key from above. Return to the locked wooden door and use the interaction prompt to open it.
Treat this as a completed objective, not a consumable supply run. You are not looking for a second key after opening the door, and teammates do not need to repeat the ladder sequence individually.
If you saw the door before finding the ladder, use the surrounding walls as your return reference. If you have not found it yet, resume the corridor search from the alcove while keeping track of which branches you have checked. The next major landmark is the pit room behind that door.
Cross the upper floor carefully

The room beyond the door has large square holes and a narrow route across them. Use the balance or lean controls when prompted. Default keyboard instructions refer to Q and E for leaning; follow your current bindings if you changed them or use a controller.
Look at the route immediately ahead instead of making abrupt turns toward the far exit. Once across, keep moving toward the exit area and check whether the team needs help. The rope found beyond the crossing matters if somebody fell behind.
The upper route saves the need to navigate below, but a fall is recoverable. Do not restart immediately just because your camera dropped to the lower floor. First determine whether a teammate has reached the rope or whether you should use the arrows.
Recover after falling

You have two recovery options, and they solve different situations:
- A teammate is still above. Ask them to get the rope from beyond the crossing and lower it at the pit edge. Move beneath it and use the prompt to climb back up. The person above must remain available for the rescue.
- Nobody can lower a rope. Look around the lower corridors for a spray-painted arrow. Follow the indicated route and continue finding the next marker until you reach the alternate exit and stairs.
The lower floor has a hostile entity, so the arrow trail is an objective route rather than an invitation to inspect every side room. Knocking, breathing or an approaching entity are reasons to keep moving and break its sight around corners. Do not rely on an exact safe timer copied from an old run.
A flashlight can be found near the lower exit area, which helps with the darker progression ahead. Take it when safe, but prioritize reaching the exit over returning into danger for an optional item you missed.
Bring the team to the transition
The upper and lower routes both finish the opening level. If the transition does not happen when one player arrives, establish where the others are. A teammate could still be below the pits, at the ladder or approaching the exit by the alternate route.
Use concrete calls such as “at the wooden door,” “below the pits” and “following the arrows.” Repeating “come this way” through identical yellow halls gives separated players very little information. Keep proximity voice use brief near danger because entities can hear in-game conversations.
The next environment is the concrete garage progression. That change confirms that the ladder-and-pit sequence is finished. Later yellow areas use different objectives, so do not assume every return to yellow wallpaper requires rebuilding this ladder.
