Yes. Xbox Game Pass Premium includes Escape the Backrooms in the availability checked on November 1, 2026. The current Xbox listing explicitly includes cloud play with Premium and Ultimate. Game Pass Essential is different: the listing says you must purchase the game to stream it with Essential.
Subscription catalogues can change, so check the signed-in product page for your region before paying for a plan solely for this game.
Separate game access from multiplayer access
| Plan or route | What the current listing establishes |
|---|---|
| Game Pass Premium | Escape the Backrooms is included; cloud play is listed |
| Game Pass Ultimate | Escape the Backrooms is included; cloud play is listed |
| PC Game Pass | Named in the publisher's May 28, 2026 availability announcement |
| Game Pass Essential | A game purchase is required for streaming this title |
| Buying the game | Ownership access is separate from console online multiplayer requirements |
Console online multiplayer requires Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. That multiplayer permission does not by itself prove that the game is included in a particular plan. Essential's ability to provide online multiplayer should not be confused with Premium's catalogue access.

Check the device you will use
The Xbox listing supports Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Choose whether you want a local installation on a supported device or a streamed session. Seeing a cloud-play option is not evidence that the Windows game has a native Mac version, or that it installs on every device capable of streaming it.
Sign in with the account that holds your subscription and inspect the available play or installation options. If you see a purchase requirement, confirm the account, plan and region before assuming that the game has been removed. A plan name in an old video is less useful than the entitlement shown for your signed-in account.
Playing with friends on another platform
Premium access does not confine your group to Xbox players. Escape the Backrooms supports cross-platform play with PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The standard session limit remains four people total.
Each friend needs their own route into the game and any online permission required by their platform. Your Premium subscription is not a replacement for another player's game access or a PS5 player's PS Plus requirement.
A successful test has two parts: first, your account can launch the game through the intended installation or cloud route; second, everyone reaches the same multiplayer lobby. Keep those checks separate so that a subscription problem is not mistaken for a cross-play problem.
