In Level 0, collect four wooden ladder pieces, bring them to the broken ladder and interact with it. The repair and climbing sequence gives you access to the key above. Use that key at the wooden door elsewhere in the yellow maze. Repairing the ladder is a key-retrieval task, not the current level's final exit.
Use the interaction control shown by your platform and bindings. You do not need to invent a ladder-placement location or try to consume the pieces like a bottle of Almond Water.
Find the broken ladder and nearby pieces
The opening Lobby is a yellow-wallpaper maze, and your starting position can differ from another player's. Look for loose wooden ladder fragments and the broken ladder they belong to. Use walls and recognizable corners to keep track of the area you have searched.

Pick up all four pieces before returning to the repair point. The scattered wood is part of the level's objective, rather than a set of ordinary consumables competing for the same purpose as drinks or stamina items.
A map can help connect the ladder area with the wooden door, but copy its landmarks rather than an instruction such as “turn right from spawn.” That direction describes the author's starting view, which may not be yours.
Interact at the repair point
Approach the broken ladder and aim at the interaction point. Once the required pieces are collected, activate the repair interaction and let the sequence finish so you can reach the key.

If the action does not begin, check the basic task state first: whether all four pieces were collected, whether you are facing the actual broken ladder and whether the interaction prompt is active. Searching the ordinary inventory for a separate ladder-use button can distract from the object you need to interact with in the room.
Do not follow a 2022 instruction that says everyone must touch a ladder to finish the level. The current opening objective uses the repaired ladder to obtain a key, followed by the wooden door and pitfall section.
Take the key to the wooden door
Return to the locked wooden door in the Lobby and use the key there. Beyond it is the pitfall room, which is a separate obstacle after the ladder objective.
Cross the upper route using the level's balance controls. If you fall, look for painted arrows on the lower walls that lead toward an alternate exit. In co-op, a teammate above can also use the rope rescue interaction when available. Falling below does not mean that repairing the ladder failed.
Distinguish later ladders from this puzzle
Ladders in later areas can simply connect parts of a route. In Level 37.2, they give access to valve areas during the raft-and-water objectives. Those are different from collecting wooden pieces to repair the opening ladder.
An August 2026 patch fixed a Level 37.2 ladder issue that could send players out of bounds or temporarily trap them. Treat an old clip of that behavior as a historical bug, not a required climbing technique. For the Lobby task, the intended chain remains four pieces, repaired ladder, key and wooden door.
