Use the Level 0 map as a set of landmarks: find the broken ladder and key alcove, locate the locked wooden door, then identify whether you are above the pits or on the lower floor. Your starting position can vary, including between teammates, so a route that begins with a fixed turn from spawn is unreliable.
The upper crossing and the lower arrow route both lead out of the opening level. Falling changes the route you need; it does not automatically make the run unwinnable.
Orient the map from a landmark

Before tracing an exit route, match something distinctive on the map to your surroundings. The repeated yellow corridors are weak reference points. The ladder alcove, wooden door and large pit room are more useful because each identifies a different stage of the escape.
| Landmark in the level | What it tells you | Next destination |
|---|---|---|
| Broken ladder and elevated alcove | You are at the key objective | Repair the ladder and collect the key |
| Locked wooden door | You have found the entrance to the crossing section | Return with the key |
| Large room with square floor openings | You are on the upper route | Reach the far side without falling |
| Spray-painted arrows below | You are on the lower recovery route | Follow successive arrows to the stairs |
Rotate your interpretation around the landmark you actually found. Do not treat the top of an illustrated map as the direction your character is facing. If a teammate says they are at the ladder, use that named point to reunite rather than asking them to describe several identical corners.
Connect the ladder to the locked door

The ladder objective gives the map its first useful route pair. Collect the nearby wooden ladder pieces, repair the broken ladder and use it to reach the key. The key opens the wooden door elsewhere in the yellow halls.
If you found the door first, remember the adjoining corridor and return to it after the key interaction. If you found the ladder first, locate the door next. There is no benefit to repeating the ladder search once the key has been collected. In multiplayer, the key objective is shared, so the person finding the alcove can tell everyone else to head toward the door.
A wall-following search can help connect these landmarks when you have no reference point. Keep the same side for an uninterrupted stretch and note the recognizable features you pass. Alternating left and right whenever a corridor looks familiar makes it harder to tell whether you are exploring or circling back.
Read the upper and lower exits separately

Beyond the wooden door, the upper floor contains the balancing crossing. This is a different navigation problem from the starting maze: you can see the gaps and need to reach the far side. Use the game's balance controls where prompted and avoid turning a successful approach into a fall by rushing the last section.
If someone remains above while a teammate falls, the rope available beyond the crossing provides a rescue option. The upper player lowers it at the pit edge; the player below uses the interaction prompt to climb. This option depends on a teammate reaching the rope, so a solo player should look for the lower route instead of waiting for a rescue that cannot happen.
Below the pits, stop trying to recreate the upper-floor path. Search for a painted arrow, follow it and look for the next. These markings lead toward the alternate exit and stairs. The lower area is dangerous, so spend your attention finding the next marker rather than checking unrelated side rooms.
Keep the opening map separate from later yellow rooms
The game returns to other yellow office-like spaces later, including the Manila Room and water-damaged sublevels. Similar wallpaper does not mean you are back at the initial ladder puzzle. Confirm the objective before using an opening-level map.
For the first Level 0 escape, the route is complete when you reach the exit into the garage progression. If a multiplayer transition waits, check that the team has reached the exit area rather than sending someone back to search for another key. Use the ladder, door, pits and arrows as your shared vocabulary until everyone is through.
